Description

This is my second image of the Horsehead Nebula, B33, and again it has the beam of light from Alnitak.

Beam me up!

You may also note a very faint nearly horizontal streak going across the image at the lower right. That is from a satellite that was crossing the field during three of the 40-second exposures. It was very faint and very slow, but faintly flashing at a rate of approximately once per second. I'd love to know what it could have been. Given it's slow speed and its location near the celestial equator, it was likely out near geosynchronous orbit, but to be visible at all at that distance it must be reasonably large. Yet an object reasonably large is not likely to be spinning so quickly. Maybe it was a piece of shiny debris?
