Description

I wanted to capture the Earthshine of the moon along with part of the illuminated crescent. Earthshine is light from the sun that reflects off of Earth and dimly lights the unlit portion of the moon. It is visible to the naked eye in good conditions, but nearly impossible to capture without fully blowing out (overexposing) the lit crescent. Because of that, this required two exposures. One exposure was 1/100s long to capture the crescent, while the other was 3.2s long to capture the Earthshine. Both were at ISO 100. The images were combined in Photoshop.
