Description

My sky cleared at around 9:00pm. It was completely clear without any clouds that I could see. So I hauled out and set up my gear.

I've been wanting to image M104 so I thought this would be a good opportunity. Also M104 was located in a good position in my sky.

After taking 3 or 4 test images to try and get a tight focus. I also took 3 test images trying different iso and exposure settings

to see what I thought would work. I then set my computer to automatically take 15 images and I went inside to

take care of a chore that I had to do. When enough time had elapsed for the 15 images I went back outside to check what I had gotten.

When I went outside I noticed that the sky was completely clouded over and not one star could be seen. That is the way the sky stayed

the rest of the night. Out of the 15 images I took 8 were starless images of clouds. To add insult to injury 4 of the cloudless images

had tracking problems so I only got 3 usable images. To say I was pissed off would be an understatement. However what I described has

become pretty much the norm for the past five months. I decided to combine my test images with my 3 usable images in Deep Sky Stacker just to

see what I would get. As it turned out I did get an image but it leaves a lot to be desired. As to be expected noise was a big problem

with such a short integration time. With all that said please enjoy my most recent image of M104.
