Description

The constellations of Carina, Vela and Puppis were formally known as Argo Navis - the ship used by Jason and the Argonauts that sailed to Colchis in search of the Golden Fleece.

The large emission nebula in the image is known as the Gum nebula and is the largest emission nebula in the sky spanning over 36 degrees.
