Description

This Astrobin Debut Object is a tiny faint planetary nebula located 28000 light years away in the constellation of Cassiopeia at a declination of +67 degrees.  That distance makes it one of the furthest PN that I have imaged.  It spans 18 arc-seconds in our apparent view, which corresponds to a diameter of 2 light years.  The object is classified as part of the Kohoutek planetary nebula catalog.

My book of planetary nebulae says that this PN is one of the faintest PN, which makes sense due to its distance from us.  The book states its magnitude as 21, which seems a bit too dim, but it is both a faint and a tiny object so perhaps the magnitude is correct.

The nebula is primarily HII but there is a ridge of OIII across the central region. I don’t see a progenitor star.
