Description

For the technical part, I would like to clarify that this is not a mere reprocessing of the data acquired several months ago. In fact, I have explored a new workflow to simplify and enhance the final output. One of the challenges I encountered was dealing with the halo left from Starnet++ for the larger stars. To overcome this, I followed Adam Block's approach in his Horizon course and used MaskGen instead of the GAME script. Thanks to Jeff Lepp's valuable advice, I found MaskGen to be more efficient and accurate. This tool creates the star masks from the plate-solved result and can filter stars by magnitudes, making it a powerful asset for this type of work. I also maximized the performance of the tool by downloading the Gaia2 star catalogues locally. As a result, I have completely forgotten about StarMask, even though I only discovered its correct usage a few weeks ago. I highly recommend using MaskGen in combination with MophologicalTransformation and Convolution, which have proven to be life-savers in this project.Regarding the picture FOV, I was particularly intrigued by the richness of the dark nebulosity when I was processing the wide field version last month. The explosive colors behind the thick clouds resembled eternal cosmic thunderstorms that have been raging for billions and billions of years. Interestingly, some parts of the picture bear a striking resemblance to wild animals. In Chinese, there is an idiom for this - "Wolf's Call, Eagle's Eye" or 鹰视狼顾. This phrase was used to describe one of the best advisors about 2000 years ago. Although I started watching a new tv showabout him earlier this year, I had to stop due to the demands of work and family. Despite this, my dedication to this FOV has remained steadfast and I consider this work to be my favorite project of the year, a fitting conclusion to the dramatic events of 2020.#TeamNoctuaDSNM
