Description

One of my favorite nebulas, the Trifid (M20), taken with my OSC camera - ASI533 and WO GT102.  This is part of a study I am conducting on the comparison of long vs short subs in astrophotography. There has been a lot of discussion over the years on the benefits of taking lots of short subs vs lesser number of longer ones and let the stacking algorithms bring out the details. But no real side by side comparisons are generally offered, or if they are, the conditions (and even the equipment) is sometimes different between the two images.  My little study (although not entirely scientific) will try to put some real comparison with data in the mix.

I have collected a number of samples of the Trifid and other objects and will be discussing the results in my blog at skyandrockets.blogspot.com once all the data is collected and processed.
