Description

This object is pair of spiral galaxies located 240 million light years away in the constellation of Pegasus at a declination of +29 degrees.

The large galaxy, NGC 7753, spans 3.3 arc-minutes in our apparent view, which corresponds to a massive diameter of 230,000 light years. The small companion galaxy, NGC 7752, spans 0.5 arc-minutes, which equals a diameter of 35,000 light years.

My favorite aspect of this image is how the long spiral arm of the main galaxy seems to reach up and connect with the companion through a long star stream bridge. The core of the main galaxy is a distinct oval, at an angle that is tilted from the disk. As with many large spirals, the yellow core contrasts with the blue color of the arms. Many bright blue star clusters are seen in the arms.

I find it interesting that the companion is so much brighter than the main galaxy. Many bright areas are seen within the companion, almost as if it had multiple cores.
