Description

The galaxy pair, NGC 4438 (center upper left) and NGC 4435 (center lower right), known as the Eyes Galaxies or Markarian’s Eyes.
Located in the Virgo Cluster at fifty million light years away from Earth, with a distance between the two galaxies of 100,000 light years.

There are multiple galaxies present in the image, Messier 86 (bottom center) the elliptical galaxy. These galaxies are part of the Virgo Cluster, which make up a string of galaxies known as the Markarian’s Chain; which stretches across a vast telescopic view!

It is worth mentioning, every time I see an image of NGC 4438 & NGC 4435, it reminds me of Billy Idol’s song, “Eyes Without a Face”.
