Description

This object is an open star cluster located 3000 light years away in the constellation of Scorpius at a declination of -37 degrees. The cluster spans 12 arc-minutes in our apparent view, which corresponds to a diameter of 10 light years.

This is an oddly shaped cluster, with the stars seemingly more in straight lines that clustered shapes. I like the tiny orange background stars throughout this region of the sky.
