Description

Messier 81 At 12million light years distant and 90,000 light years diameter, M81 is considered a “Grand Design Galaxy”. At its center is a super massive 70million solar mass black hole.

Messier 82 Cigar As the closest starburst galaxy to Earth, M82 is the starburst example. At 12 million light-years, and a member of the M81 Group, the starburst activity was likely triggered by interaction with neighboring galaxy M8. M82 is about five times more luminous than the Milky Way and has a center one hundred times more luminous.

NGC 3077 is a small disrupted elliptical galaxy, a member of the M81 Group.
