Description

M42 in RGB was on my to do list, did not anticipate to do it this early in the year though. I had to replace my battery in the Gemini controller of my Losmandy mount, and yes, as expected, it went downhill. A lot of stuff that I already programmed was gone, and it took me a while to get everything back to how it worked before ... I thought. Until I targeted an object close to the meridian. I wanted to have it flipped for the rest of the night, and the initial setting worked fine! Until SGP did the plate solving and tried to move the scope a bit. After the third correction (which was probably the final one) the mount just went back and did a meridian flip again! I had to stop the slew before my scope would have hit the mount. Tried it out 3 times, and then I gave up, will have to do some work before I get out to see why it is behaving like that. So I ended up with a quick target, M42 was just above the tree line, hence an easy decision. I added the Hα image from the RASA as luminance to the RGB image of the Z61, turned out not too bad 😊.
