Description

This is a four panel mosaic from the Vulpecula region.

Vulpecula  is a faint constellation in the northern sky. Its name is Latin for "little fox", although it is commonly known simply as the fox. It was identified in the seventeenth century, and is located in the middle of the Summer Triangle (an asterism consisting of the bright stars Deneb, Vega, and Altair).

In this image 3 main objects are visible in the constellation.

VDB 126:
In the western part of the constellation Vulpecula one can find a large number of faint diffuse nebulae and dark clouds. Just north of the star cluster Cr 399, which is a wonderful binocular object, are the two reflection nebulae vdB 126 (= LBN 134) and LBN 133. At a distance of 2720 light years, dust clouds reflect the light of some stars that are not hot enough to ionize the clouds . The dark clouds LDN 767-769 form a background rich in contrast to the diffuse blue nebulae.

Cr 399
Brocchi's Cluster (also known as Collinder 399, Cr 399 or Al Sufi's Cluster) is a random grouping of stars located in the constellation Vulpecula near the border with Sagitta. The members of the star cluster form an asterism which has given rise to its name as the Coathanger.

SH2-86
SH2-86 is an emission nebula in constellation Vulpecula with an apparent diameter of about 40' (arcminutes). The nebula is not very bright but contains some interesting pillar-structures and Bok globules. If is assumed that the nebula is ionized by the Vulpecula OB1 association which lies at a distance of about 6000 ly from Earth and which contains NGC 6823, the star cluster in the center of the nebula.
