Description

I am back at my home near Paris and planned to continue using NB imaging under light polluted sky (SQM 19.5 at best) and with the full moon coming : SQM 18.4 at the moment !

I also had to use my good old NEQ6 again instead of my new CEM120EC2.

This is a quick comparison between the 2 mounts :

- The "minus" : the RA drive has a lot PE and the DEC drive some backlash : the typical guiding error was around 1 arcsec RMS instead typically 0.3 arcsec RMS with the CEM120. Sometimes the errors jump to up to 5 arcsec before being corrected by PHD2.

- The "plus" : I tried to apply my automated target centering and meridian flip with this mount (which I never succeed in the past), it did work quite well !!! The only change I observed is that up to 5 iterations are required before the target can be centered within 25 pixels (2 iterations are usually sufficient to center the CEM120 to less than 10 pixels).

The processing was done in PI as follow :

For each H, O channels :

- Images Calibration (Dark and Flat)

- Cosmetic Correction

- Image Registration

- Image Integration

- Mure Denoise

Then :

- Create HO image using pixelmath H in red channel, O in blue channel, H+O in green

- Color balance on nebula

- Deconvolution masked with 2.2 pixel psf

- Delinearisation using MaskedStretch

- Mix image with 50% of HDR compressed image

- SCNR (G min 0.70)

- Color Balance Stars Only using a star mask

- Color Saturation masked (and desaturate bkg)

- Background extraction

- TGV denoise (image as local support)

Final image adjustments performed in Iphoto on Imac :

- levels adjustments

- deflip
