Description

This planetary nebula is located 4400 light years away in the constellation of Lynx at a declination of +62 degrees.  One of the faintest PN that I have imaged in terms of surface brightness, it is a magnitude 16 PN which spans 2.4 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a diameter of 3 light years.  This PN is larger than the average PN and is likely older, which explains the diffuse nature of its signal.

Both the OIII and HII are faint signals, with the OIII just slightly brighter.  The progenitor star is visible as the tiny blue star just left of center.  The offcenter progenitor may be due to slight movement of the PN by the ISM (interstellar medium).  Although faint, the nebula has some structure including a slight void at the 11 o'clock position.
