Description

As San Diego County enters into a heatwave we thought it was time for another solar picture.

The bright, almost white, spots near to the sun spot are called plages - the French word for beaches.

Taken with a Daystar Quark combined with a full aperture ERF to manage the heat load.

This was stacked from the best 200 frames of a 2,000-frame video. In all we made about a dozen videos at 30 frames per second. For whatever reason the very first video produced the sharpest stacking. This could be caused by the nature of seeing over time although I suspect the Daystar Quark temperature regulator has something to do with it.

Next time I will try different dial settings on the Daystar Quark.
