Description

A star trail shot of my portable setup, and the only one I have available right-now during the Covid-19 lockdown here in New Zealand, with my main setup stored at my remote observing location. My Nikon d7500 with Sigma 150-600mm lens on the little but oh so powerful Skywatcher Star Adventurer. People always ask how I manage to make it handle that lens, and it's quite easy as long as your overall structure (tripod, ball-head, ...) is solid, and you can align well.

Luckily here in central Welington, even in Bortle 6, when heading into the park behind home (pictured) you can faintly make out the milke-way with bare eyes. At the top of the image the dense area of stars is the Eta Carinae region.

I took a few frames out of the star trails stack and I find it gives the image a bit of a Van Gogh's "Starry Night" look and feel.
