Description

July has been a total washout until last night. It was warm and humid all night and the Moon was bright, but I was able to image NGC 6888 using an IDAS NB1 filter to help cut through the haze and sky brightness.
NGC 6888 is an emission nebula in Cygnus. It was formed a few hundred thousand years ago when a fast moving stellar wind collided with slower moving wind ejected by the star when it became a red giant. This is similar to what is going top happen to our star in 4-5 billion years.
