Description

A slightly arcuate escarpment between the craters Piccolomini and Catharina, with a length of about 440 km. The escarpment is a portion of the outer wall of the Nectaris basin. The inclination of the slopes of Rupes Altai is much steeper than, for example, with Rupes Recta or Rupes Cauchy. Rupes Recta and Rupes Cauchy also have a much smaller difference in height compared with the surrounding terrain. . In truth, it is a circular mountain range whose highest peaks rise to 13,000 feet!
