Description

This Abell PN, also known as PK020-00.1, is located in the constellation of Scutum at a declination of -12 degrees.  It is a magnitude 13 PN which spans 6 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  I could not find distance data for this object so it is not possible to determine its size.

This is one of the strangest PNe that I have seen.  I do not understand how this shape could be created by the PN mechanisms as we understand them today.  It looks more like a HII region.  I could not find the background information confirming that this object is truly a PN.

I do not see a central progenitor star for this nebula, nor could I detect any OIII signal.
