Description

I combined 12 hours of Ha data taken from my suburban Atlanta yard with about 7 hours of RGB exposure taken by me under the darker skies at Deerlick Astronomy Village in Sharon, Georgia.

M81 (Bode's Galaxy) is a grand design spiral galaxy about 12 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Ursa Major. M82 (The Cigar Galaxy) is a starburst galaxy also about 12 million light-years away in Urse Major. The starburst activity is believed to have been triggered by interaction with neighboring galaxy M81.
