Description

Tested at 200mm at maximum aperture (f/2.8) and found signficantly wanting in terms of field correction which resulted to be poor across the DX format (APS-C). Main aberration is inward coma so typical of zoom lenses. Also there is more than a hint of longitudinal chromatic aberration as the B line is slightly out of focus resulting in bluish tinged halos in the brighter stars. What is more suprising of this lens (normally held in good regard for terrestrial photography) is that even closing it down the field correction does not improve up to f/4. It improves at f/5.6 but then is questionable to use such a heavy lens for so small gain.
