Description

Finally finished up a project from November 2019. 5 months of clouds and waiting on equipment finally reduced my backlog to manageable levels. This is one of my favorites, though I don't much care for how its neighbor (the Soul Nebula) looks. Note the small nebula present above the heart, visible as a small but bright Oiii ring - this is WeBo-1, a small PN present about 2,500 l.y. in front of the Heart, which is about 7,500 l.y. away.

PixInsight Housekeeping:

- BPP, CC, SS Weighing, SA, Local Norm, Image Int, Drizzle 2x for the Hα

- Common Crop per side

- DBE per panel, multiple passes

- Star Align to align mosaic panels

- GradientMergeMosaic

- LFit G, B to R

- Channel Combine RGB

Ha/Oiii Prep:

- Deconvolution w/Dynamic PSF, Deringing

- Copied both H, O for star erosion via StarNet on stretched copies, MLT/MT on linear copies

- PixelMath to combine starless linear Oiii into normal Ha to form master Luminance

Luminance Processing:

- Rista TGVD, MMT

- Masked Stretch, Histogram Stretch on image clones

- LocalHistExt

- Rista method ACDNR

RGB Processing:

- DBE passes

- Photometric CC

- HSV Repair, Magenta Star Repair

- Blended H into R, B and Oiii into G, B using PixelMath

- 2x each DBE, Background Neutralization

- Rista method TGVD, MMT

- Masked Stretch, Histogram Stretch

- ACDNR

- MT for slight star reduction to match L

- LRGB Combination

LRGB Processing:

- HDRMT with nebula mask

- 4 passes Unsharp Mask

- Dark Structure Enhance Script

- Tweaks to darken background, increase contrast

- C*a*b tweaks on Oiii-heavy regions

- Saturation increases to nebula, stars

- Reduction of remnant Oiii halos from initial narrowband blending
