Description

Comments:

A great evening for imaging. Very warm for this time of the year and extremely clear skies although very light polluted too. NGC6480 has a weird description in the new general catalog. The SkyX asserts it is a double star (I would rule that out), many online sites claim it is an open cluster, others would rather call it a bright nebula but to my understanding and according to the image, it is without doubt a dark nebula in a huge star field. Ok, let's just call it LDN1795. Indeed, the Lind catalog of dark nebulas include this interesting object and some of its siblings nearby too such as LDN1788, LDN10 and LDN12.

It is located in the Scorpius constellation following the teapot in Sagittarius.
