Description

NGC 5033 is an inclined spiral in Canes Venatici. It is similar in size to our Milky Way and is about 40 million light years from Earth. A well-studied example of a Seyfert active galaxy, NGC 5033’s arms contain many massive blue star clusters along with a bright core. The bright nucleus and slightly offset center of the galaxy suggests it is the result of an ancient galaxy merger.
