Description

This object is a globular cluster located 30,000 light years away in the constellation of Ophiuchus at a declination of -26 degrees. The cluster spans 8 arc-minutes in our apparent view, which corresponds to a width of 70 light years.

This is a nice generic globular cluster - I could find nothing unique or particularly interesting about it. For some reason, within the confines of the cluster, a double star has been given a separate classification of NGC 6294 as shown on the Astrobin mouseover.

This is the 75th entry in Stephen James O'Meara's catalog of Secret Deep objects.
