Description

This lovely triplet of smallish galaxies sits in a nice star field. The "Star" of the group is the perfectly formed spiral, 5985. It seems these clusters are often anchored by a diffuse elliptical galaxy - is that right? And if so does anyone know why that would be? Maybe its just my mistaken perception.

I attempted Ha to see if there were any tendrils connecting the three. All three had remarkably quiet Ha emissions. No clumping in the arms of even 5985. Only the cores were showing much Ha. It would be a dull place to image from!
