Description

Not me, the constellation.

NGC 4565 is a giant spiral galaxy with a prominent central bulge that is intriguing to me. The star composition of central bulge is unclear. Its exponential shape suggested that it is a barred spiral. The Spitzer Space Telescope has confirmed the presence of a central bar but also showed a pseudobulge within it as well as an inner ring. NGC 4565 has at least two satellite galaxies, one of which is interacting with it. It holds ~ 240 globular clusters.

Its a beauty to image too. I spent about 3 hours collecting data on this one.

I have fixed my guiding by adjusting the lower dec bearing in my NEQ6, which wasn't seated quite right from the last time it was apart. I also increased the agressiveness of guiding in the variant of PHD2 that is running in ASI Air pro. I collected 63 frames with no bumps in guiding and averaged between 0.5 and 0.9 RMS.

Stack in both APP and PI just for comparison. Processed in Pixinsight 1.8 adjusted for exposure in PS.

Thanks for looking. This experiment shows that I should try to get as much time as possible on these galaxies.
