Description

Hi folks,

This is the first light of my brand new refractor : SharpStar 76EDPH w/ focal reducer I've received early October (see rev C). I couldn't get so much integration time during this experimental session, as the clouds (as usual...) were playing with my obstination to manage some tests (polar alignement, mount balancing, framing, etc...).

Well, after spending 3-4 hours on the field, I was finally able to collect 120 min of datas, but they turned to be only 75 min after on-screen evaluation... What a lovely hobby, isn't it? ;-)))

Despite the lack of integration, I'm very pleased with the overall quality of this image - reducer works well but I've to fix some tilt - and guess it will make a great combo with the Nikon D5500 for the next years. The resolution is about 2.35 ''/pix, which is not bad considering my Bortle-4-location and the sky quality above it.

As you can see, this is an attempt at the beautiful California Nebula, located some 1'800 l-y away in the constellation of Perseus. This huge complex spans 2.5° in the sky and looks like the USA's most populous state (Wiki said!). I would love to visit it again as soon as the weather will be more astro-friendly :-P

Stay safe and healthy guys and keep your eyes up in the sky :-)

Christophe
