Description

This was captured under difficult weather conditions. First of all, it's been rainy for weeks here. When it wasn't, it was full moon or foggy. When yesterday I finally saw some stars in the night, I took advantage of this to try to capture a target I wanted to have for years but didn't get the opportunity to do: Thor's Helmet.

It was difficult because the sky wasn't transparent, and there were quite a lot of clouds. Therefore, almost every raw frame has clouds somewhere. However the magic of software processing makes it so that it's possible to get some nice data out of it. Obviously I would have liked to capture more data too, but it was already too late: when I started capturing, the target was roughly 17° high, which isn't great (and I had to wait for it to pass over the trees). Then it topped at 30°, but when it did, clouds were all over so I had to stop the session. This explains why the image is quite noisy.

I doubt I will have an occasion to capture more data this year, so be it!
