Gum12 - a stunning remnant of once bright star gone supernova.

The Gum Nebula (Gum 12) is an emission nebula that extends across 36° in the southern constellations Vela and Puppis. Widely believed to be the greatly expanded (and still expanding) remains of a supernova that took place about a million years ago.


15 hours of exposure with the tiny but mighty RedCat51 with its 250mm wide focal length @ f/4.9. The image consists of 10 hours of Ha (5nm) and 5 hours of Oiii (3nm) and RGB stars, imaged with an asi1600mm, chroma filters, AZGTi mount.Taken from my bortle 6 sky in Melbourne, Australia over 3 recent nights.
