Description

Doing some research on improving my imaging and more specifically, data collection. One item I kept coming across was using longer subframe times that I was using with my CCD. In the past the typical LRGB subs were: 300:240:240:240. My Lum would not be too bad for processing, but the RGB were very noisy and tough to deal with. Even when moving from a bortel 6 to 4 location. So with this project I went to 600s for all subs. Also I switched from doing the RGB at 2x2 binning to 1x1. I am really pleased with the results!

NGC6946 or Caldwell 12 is a classic face-on spiral galaxy. It gets its nickname of the Firework Galaxy because of 10 known supernova discovered in it in the last 100yrs.

I managed to also get a handful of background galaxies in this image, the two most prominent are in the top left. So far I have not had much luck finding any information or even catalog names for them. Guess I need to improve that area of my imaging also.
