Description

There is a nebula in the constellation Monoceros, 5000 light-years away from Earth, which has nothing to do with us, but because of its shape and color, there are always a few special days every year, such as Valentine's Day, when its pictures spread all over the Internet and are used by humans to convey their love.

I'm talking about the Rosette Nebula.

From a certain point of view, the nebula does look like a rose, not only has petals and stamens, even the calyx and stems have a pattern! A cosmic rose with a mass of 10,000 Suns, how romantic it is!

But you can't just look at one side... That same nebula, rotated 180 degrees, what do you see?

There are no roses, but a skull! The eyebrow bone is towering, the eye socket is deep-set, the nasal cavity is open, the mandible is slightly open, especially the pterion on the skull, it is exactly the same! As for what a skull stands for, needless to say...

Of course, rose or skull is nothing but the imagination of humans on Earth。 This nebula is just a molecular cloud in our remote corner of the Milky Way, keep busy producing new stars, and it doesn't care what we think of it!

But the next time you see the nebula, don't get carried away by the cosmic "romance". Turn the picture around and look for the skull.

The nebula has done its best to remind you that love may be wonderful, but there are risks involved, so be careful not to lose your life for it.
