Description

My attempt at the Beehive. This I have been imaging in conjunction with The Andromeda Galaxy, M44 was not in a good position to image before 11pm. This has been a real test of my patience in an age of instant gratification as this was imaged over several nights due to weather and gear issues. I believe it was worth it. I actually reckon, after 10 years of AP I will have the patience of a Chinese Monk!

Anyway, have had a little play around with this image, trying not to alter too much as the stars themselves speak for themselves. Not sure about the naming of this one, how do you land on beehive for this one cluster, much prefer the name Praesepe.

Love the colours of these stars with the younger and older stars, very nice contrast especially with a rich star background with a few galaxies scattered around. I have noticed some haziness in some other images of this I have seen, I do wonder......... if I add more integration would this appear?

M44 is 600 million years old so very young with blue and red giants, and one of the nearest clusters to the Earth visible under clear skies without binoculars. In 2012 M44 was the first cluster where an exoplanet was found (2 were actually found - pr0201 b & pr0211 b) orbiting a star like our own. These are known as hot Jupiters due to their sizes and close proximity to their stars. (This could be a good future project, see if I can detect a transit although I believe these were detected by the wobble of the stars)

Star clusters are really growing on me.

Hope you all enjoy and am most open to constructive criticism as well as feedback on how I can do better.
