Description

Abell 44 is a very small Planetary Nebula in the constellation Sagittarius. It is 0.9 arcmin across, and rather faint with magnitude 15.6. Both Ha and Oiii have satisfying intensity, so this is not a difficult target to image. With a thorough internet search I was only able to find 1 example image, a very small mono image providing no detail. So to say this PN is rarely imaged is an understatement.

I would like to provide more info about Abell 44, but this is everything I could find.

It contains a few embedded stars, and no obvious central star.

I think it is a charming little PN, and sits in the middle of a lovely, colorful, star field.

Also known as PK 015-03.1, PN G015.6-03.0.
