Description

After imaging the Eagle Nebula that night I went on to the Helix Nebula.

For me, this one doesn't exceed 20° altitude. To the end of imaging, guiding appeared to be a complete mess based on the elongated stars I got. Closer inspection of the single subs revealed that the different colors of the stars actually were pin point. But the red part of stars were not exactly in the same spot like the blue/green part of the stars making it look elongated. The nebula was obiously so low that the atmosphere worked as a badly color corrected lens. DSS was fortunately able to take care of the problem by aligning the different channels.
