Description

STEVE, or Strong Thermal Emission Velocity Enhancement, is illustrated in the middle of this image with the typical mauve or pink ribbon and associated green "picket fence".  To the left is more typical nightglow, and to the bottom right is the typical green aurora light activity seen on the image submitted on 7-24-22.  All of this was part of the G2 event on Friday, 7/22/22 geomagnetic display that resulted from a coronal mass ejection 3 days earlier.   This was the most colorful auroral display that I have ever recorded digitally, enhanced by the lack of all moon and very clear skies.  The colors were shocking on the camera touchscreen, and even more so in Lightroom; the vibrance and color sliders were hardly touched at all during processing.
