Description

IC443, the Jellyfish Nebula (Sharpless 248) is the remnant of a supernova located in the constellation of Gemini. It is about 5000 light years distant and it roughly 70 light years across covering an angular diameter of 50 arc minutes which is about 1.6x the size of a full moon. The large star at the bottom of the frame is Eta Geminorum or Propus.

I had done a bi-color rendition back in October of 2012 and it came out OK, but the SII signal I was missing is very strong in this target and I feel this came out much better using the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) palette.
