Description

This Image was split between 2 nights of small windows of opportunity and frustration. The first night was going ok except for losing connection to my rig with no chance of regaining connection without a hard reset. In hindsight, if I had just left it alone (key statement) it had already started its autorun plan and would have finished up and shut down on its own when the autorun was complete but... I would have gone mad not knowing how the night was going. The second night the connections held up, but my focus did not. The temperature was terribly low (14F at the start and falling fast) and when you rush to setup, the scope had a long cooldown and focus goes quite quickly (I am looking into an EAF setup for the Redcat now). I really didn't want to even process the data due to my frustrations but after a few days sitting on it I gave it a go. If anything, I felt it would be good practice. After hours of editing, I am actually pleased with the results. The stars are TERRIBLE but the overall image okay (at least for my standards). All and all I actually really enjoyed making this image, even with all the issues and frustrations, there is still something to be said about a night alone under the stars. With the weather Utah has seen these past few months, those nights are very few and far between.
