Description

Two months ago I've finally gotten my newton... So what does one shoot you might ask when they get a new telescope to play around with? A particularly bright DSO target Maybe M31? Cygnus? Starcluster?...Well not me. Of course the first thing I decided to shoot was something tricky. In fact, it soon dawned on me, just how tricky this target really was. Turned out it was much fainter than I ever imagined. After countless hours and many nights spent on this target, I finally edited this image and I absolutely love it. Turned out to also be much harder to edit than I thought XD. This is to date my faintest and most trickiest object I have ever captured! I like to compare it to the Iris Nebula ...I shot the Iris nebula last year from the same location with worse gear...I can savely say: This target is far dimmer than the Iris' dark nebulas. 55hrs in and I'd still prefer more data XD.

Funnily enough, I actually shot this target after @Lyaphine told me about it. Check out her rendition of this image if you haven't already! It is absolutely fantastic. From talking to her over the last months, I know that she went absolutely above and beyond to capture the details in her image, including buying a mono cam and filter in order to capture the faintest of details in the Ha XD. Now that's dedication!!

Looking at the image in more details, a few interesting details can be found. First of all, a newly discovered planetary nebula, RebPau-1. Never in a million years did I think this little blob could:
A) Be undiscovered
B) Be a planetary nebula XD.
I think it is very inspiring to see people still discover these things in their images. I for sure will from now on keep my eyes open for any ha blobs I will see in my future targets. Perhaps one of them will too be undiscovered.

Further on, I also tried to reveal the subtle and extremely faint supernova remnants from NGC7129. I quickly realized however, that my 6.5nm Filters were not quite up to that task. However I did pick up some of them. More importantly, when I compared them with @Lyaphine 's image, I realized that they span extremely far out. You can see some of the brighter remnants of the supernova towards the bottom of my image. I think a massive group project could be amazing to try and image the remnants in all its glory.
