Description

This "casual" image used no flats, darks or bias frames. However, I did use LENR and dithered (manually) between every subexposure. The image is nearly the whole APS-C frame with only minor cropping due to the stacking.

Pixel peepers may notice what appears to be chromatic aberration. But the SN6 telescope, a Schmidt-Newtonian design has no appreciable CA. The color separation is always in the same direction, revealing its origin: atmospheric refraction. Hercules was very low in the sky when I shot this.

The Meade LXD55 SN6 is a 6-inch f/5 Schmidt-Newtonian.
