Description

NGC 7635, also known as the Bubble Nebula, is a 10-light-year diameter nebula located in the constellation of Cassiopeia. It’s composed of ionized hydrogen.

It is formed by the stellar wind created by the star SAO 20575 at a speed of more than 1,700 km/s. The star is not in the center because the expanding cloud meets a denser and colder region on one side.
Depending on their temperature the gases have a different color: the oxygen is hot enough to appear in blue around the star, while the yellow pillars come from colder gases whose light is composed of a mixture of hydrogen (green) and nitrogen (red).
