Description

The Beehive Cluster is slightly visible to the naked eye from a dark site. It is best seen through binoculars or small telescopes, which will reveal hundreds of stars that are simply too faint to be seen otherwise.

The Beehive is best viewed near the end of Winter through the beginning of Spring, as Cancer rises higher in the sky when Winter is about to end. M44 shows its large size and stars, mostly white and blue, with some smaller ones being red and orange, shining with a wide variety of brightness.
