Description

Inside the magnificent plain of the Sea of Clouds (Mare Nubium), very smooth in appearance in this image, we discover like a sword laid on the ground, the famous lunar fault Rupes Recta (110 km).
Above, another shallow groove close to Birt Crater stretches for 50 km, Rima Birt.
To the left of the image appears the walled plain Pitatus, then plunged into the lunar twilight, the craters Purbach, Thebit, Arzachel and Alpetragius with its central peak just visible.
