Description

Another image of Comet Neowise taken the Howard County Conservancy North of DC on the night of July 18, 2020. Most of the images taken during this session were taken through some haze and passing high clouds. I shot with the D5300 first using a 50mm lens then switching over to a 85 mm lens. This capture was taken around 10:15 pm and is one of my favorites. I had to apply a pretty aggressive stretch, but the ion tail is just visible.

Imaged with a Nikon D5300 and Rokinon 85mm/F1.4 at F2 with an exposure at ISO400 x 15s. This is a stack of 50 images generated using Pixinsight. Post-processed in Pixinsight: Cropped, gradient removal with ABE, MLT for noise reduction, photometric color calibration stretched using masked stretch, Curves Transformation, TGVDenoise for noise reduction, HDR transform, Local histogram transform, morphological transform to shrink stars, and color saturation boost.

Description: More agressive stretch to bring out out the ion tail. High level clouds/haze are also more apparent.
