The Milky Way showing itself between the clouds over Belle-Île island, from Quiberon, France

Many things are happening in this picture :
- first off, the neverendless clouds that pushed me back to doing macro-photography instead of astro-photography these last 10 days :-)
- the Milky Way, kindly showing a bit of itself between the clouds,
- the Belle-Île island in the west coast of France (Brittany), whose many lighthouses show themselves at night : Kerdonis in red on the left of the image, Kervilhaouen / Goulphar on the other side of the island, but that cast some diffuse blueish / greenish lights in the middle of the island, and of course Les Poulains that creates the diffraction spikes and the bright yellow spot on the image, on the right part of the island.
- the Birvideaux lighthouse (isolated at sea), that cast a big yellow halo on the right of the image, its light diffusing inside what seems to be a region where it's raining over the sea.
- a yacht sailing at night with its mast-light on.
- the light pollution of the two small towns of the island, that illuminate the clouds above them (very impressive...)

On the foreground you can see the "wild coast" of Quiberon (the one that has no beach and is not protected in a bay), with a natural swimming pool at low tide, whose location will remain secret (all heavens are lost heavens, aren't they ?). And of course my wife (and partner in crime when it comes to get out at night to make nice landscapes pictures).

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
