Description

M17 is also known as omega nebula, swan nebula, checkmark nebula, lobster nebula or horseshoe nebula. It is a bright nebula, a HII region  with tons of stars within constellation Sagittarius from milky way. M17  is between 5,000 and 6,000 light-years from Earth and it spans some 15 light-years in diameter. Just like M31,  it is an edge-on view from earth.

I have completed this target couple of months ago and only find time now to process it. It is so bright even 40 minutes exposure in each channel of  RGB could  produce a decent image.  Unlike traditional narrow band image post processing, I kept RGB signal as much as possible to get reddish true color.
