Description

NGC 4725 is a barred spiral galaxy that lies some 40 million light years away in the constellation Coma Berenices. This places it near the north galactic pole, meaning our galaxy to an observer in NGC 4725 would look like a face-on galaxy. This galaxy has a prominent star forming ring structure. Nearby is the spiral galaxy NGC 4712, which is about 5x farther at 220 million light years.
