Description

DWB-111, the Propeller Nebula, is an emission nebula in the constellation Cygnus. The origin of the peculiar structure is still completely unknown. The nebula's distance and source of excitation are also undetermined. DWB-111 mass is believed to be quite low, probably less than 50 solar masses. Obscuring dust is closely associated with the nebula, but seems to occur mostly in front of it.

I imaged this during the heatwave event where daytime temperatures hit a record high in this area of 47 degrees C. I had to capture this image over many night as we only have 4 hours of nautical darkness this time of year. Noise was a challenge in the image as well as poor seeing conditions during most of the imaging sessions. I have never imaged before during the nautical twilight period, roughly 4 weeks on either side of the summer solstice, so I consider this a "bonus" image this year.

Hope all are doing well!
