Description

This is the end of the road for my imaging of Venus during the 2019-2020 evening apparition.,,

These images were captured on the evening of May 25, 2020. Venus was ~3% illuminated in this image. I was super excited with this capture and the result. I setup the scope during the afternoon and carefully aligned on the Sun (using my solar filter of course!). I was able to locate Venus and made some mid-afternoon captures but the seeing was pretty bad. That improved in the early evening and my last capture during evening twilight turned out the best. It was a real treat to observe and image Venus' sharp crescent at such a low illumination fraction. Its been a great journey for these past three months tracking Venus, now to generate some compilation images...

Imaged with a C8 Evo, ZWO ADC, Baader UV-IR Cut filters, and ZWO ASI224MC. Imaging train was configured to give ~F/20. Image capture using Firecapture (see below for exposure settings). Stacking in AutoStakkert3 (best 5% of ~25000 frames captured over 180 seconds). Color balancing and Wavelet sharpening in Registax6. Processed single image in WinJUPOS.

Exposure settings for UV-IR Cut Filter images: Shutter=0.4ms, Gain=275, Histogram=~50%, ~100 FPS
